The Spanish are Back...with Violins

Roughly 150 years after armed U.S. troops assumed control over the Presidio from the Spanish, the Consulate General of Spain is back, and he has a message..."please come to enjoy classical musica."

That's right, as part of the "Live at the Presidio" concert series, the Spanish Consulate of all people is bringing the public live classical music. These concerts are held at the Golden Gate Club, 135 Fisher Loop (near the cemetery). Schedule is below:

Zarabanda Baroque Concert
Thursday, September 13 at 8 pm
Through period study and musicology, the musical ensemble Zarabanda presents an historic perspective, capturing the authentic style and spirit of the music they perform. The use of original instruments and reliable copies of antique instruments, their knowledge of music theory, and the group’s stylistic criteria create a genuine interpretation of ancient music.

BdB duo Concert

Thursday, November 8, at 8 pm
Spain’s BdB duo, internationally acclaimed pianists Maria Jose Barandiaran and Maria Jose de Bustos, make their North American debut at the Presidio.
